stand by me

Here is a movie representing double genius:

~based on a story by master writer Stephen King

~brilliantly directed by Rob Reiner

It's a guy movie - really.  For who else but a guy could know what
goes in the world of twelve year old boys.  Even after owning it on
VHS, giving it away, then last night buying it while shopping for
groceries - then watching it again today while working to get my
house in order - I saw more then ever the value of the content of
this movie.

~the comaraderie and loyalty of the four boys

~how they stood up to the older boys

~the adventure they sought in searching for the dead teenager

~the pure joy revealed here in growing up

~the experiences along the way

~the revelation of the pain in their personal lives

~the fun watching all of this

~the amazing acting of the four

~and the secret that gordie kept for years about the deer

To see this movie again was like stumbling upon a lost treasure
~~~
and the connection between the author of  'The Body' and the
book I bought at the same time
it's long ~the subject matter intriguing~no doubt it will be good
~~~

just what i need as winter appears to be setting in here in Hoosierland
and me afraid to venture out on snowy roads

yes - it will be good to have a long Stephen King novel to read once again
