the last leaf

As soon as I finish getting things in order in my new house I'm going to sit in my wooden
rocker and gaze out the window on my rose bushes for hours on end.

At least that's the plan.
~~~
But yesterday while busily working I did a double take out that window and spied one
lone branch dangling down from the tree - artistically sporting about ten last leaves of
summer.
And I know what's gonna happen.
~~~

When I do finally sit in my rocker and gaze out the window they're gonna come in one
day and find me like Tony Perkin's late mother in Psycho - when the shreiking music is
much scarier than the actual scene -  all shrivelled up - waiting for the last leaf
to fall.

You know - like in O Henry's short story The Last Leaf.
~~~
Give me until January when I hope to regain what was once a semblance of sanity - when
now everyday I suddenly and virtually collapse in uncontrolled laughter -the kind in that
song They're Coming To Take You Away - ha ha.
~~~

If only I had something to look forward to - like a relaxing vacation in Hawaii.

On New Year's Eve.

Oh well - there's no rest for us Wicked Liberals.

maybe i'll run away and join the OWS movement.....

2025? 2026? ;)

You should do that TODAY. Spare yourself the aggravation of owning private property. Let the greedy Wall Street bankers worry about setting houses in order. ;)

AM - If you come out from behind the 'che guevera/barack obama' profile picture - come knocking at my door - we can sit down and talk about what needs to be done to Save America.

You remind me of another 'hit and run' commenter on another blog.

When is somebody going to do something besides talk about saving America.
~~~
I will do it as soon as I get my house in order.
that is if I don't end up in the looney bin first
You don't really want my boot on your neck, do you? Best be careful what you wish for.
You remind me of another 'hit and run' commenter on another blog.
Trolls be Us. We B Legion. ;)
The Absolute Marxist said...
As for me, I don't wish to save America. I simply want America to stop trying to save ME. I don't need her "help".
sue hanes said...
Ther - You won't be putting your boot on the back of my neck - now will you.
Neither do I want it up my *ss.
sue hanes said...
AM - That's fair enough.
But right now we need you to save Her.
The Absolute Marxist said...
But right now we need you to save Her.
Why? Have you learned your lesson in how to best manage her, yet? Have you learned any new limits to your powers to tax me so that you can achieve the results that YOU deem best for the nation, even though I might disagree? Are you through giving away fish instead of teaching people how to fish for themselves?
I don't think so.
sue hanes said...
Abso - Don't count me out.
I am willing to learn but I alone am not enough.
I see others around me who could help - but are they willing.
~~~

Some are content to be happy with what they have done so far but not step out of their comfort zone.

Others throw in the glove and say all is lost so we will just sit here and complain.
~~~
How about the best of both to work together.
You like choosing sides?
Ok. Let's choose sides and then get together with both sides working side by side.
I'll start.
I choose Bill Maher first.
Who is your first choice - Legion -on this new United Winning Team?
Please tell me it is not Herman Cain.
The Absolute Marxist said...
As your first choice is one of the most partisan "my way or the highway" voices in politics today, I choose Randall Terry as my "offset".
sue hanes said...
Abso - I have never heard of Randall Terry so I will get back to you as soon as I google him.
sue hanes said...
AM - It's odd to me that you would consider Bill Maher as 'my way or the highway' as I see him as a very reasonable person.
It's true he has definite ideas - but he does not strike me as being rigid in his thinking.
But there is no way I can know that for sure until I am able to talk to him in person - which I'm hoping will happen - sooner or later - preferably sooner.
sue hanes said...
AM - It looks to me as if you could do better than Randall Terry for an 'offset' choice.
He seems to have only one issue:
abortion.
~~~

You need to pick someone that has a wider range of interest.

If you question my choice of Bill Maher as my 'first' choice then say so as I am prepared to back up that choice.

If you are not serious about all this then I'm not going to spend time on it.

But I can back up Bill Maher as my first choice.

The Absolute Marxist said...

I see no difference between the two. Both are narrow minded bigots. That you are blind to Maher's bigotry is not surprising. I can't watch him for more than 30 seconds w/o changing the channel in disgust.

The Absolute Marxist said...

Maher is blind to it as well.

Stanley Kowalski said...

Maher only has one issue. Disgust for conservative values.

sue hanes said...

Stanley - I have to strongly disagree with that.

You obviously are picking up from him only what you want to hear.

He is more open minded about everything then anyone else I've heard talk.

Yes, he does come down hard on
Republicans and especially the current candidates. But have you ever read a Conservative Blog?
There is more bashing there than he ever does.
~~~
As far as values - I call honesty
a good value - and they don't get more honest than Bill Maher.
sue hanes said...
Abso - It's your own smallmindedness that makes you change the channel.
I've been watching and scrutinizing Bill Maher for over three years. So I've had a chance to make up my mind.
And I have come to the conclusion that he is the man.
sue hanes said...
AM - 'Maher is blind to it as well.'
Are you speaking about abortion?
That is an issue that is highly
charged. Conservatives do not own the views on abortion.
Abortion is only one issue and Bill Maher has good views on other issues.
I have my view on abortion - but no one seems to be interested.
sue hanes said...
AM - 'That you are blind to Maher's bigotry is not surprising."
Could you explain what you are talking about here - please?
Joe Conservative said...
He is more open minded about everything then anyone else I've heard talk.
The statement speaks for itself. If I smugly insulted you over and over and over...you'd change the channel, too. But then, he's not insulting YOU, is he? He's not smugly calling you a racist. He's not smugly calling you stupid. He's not smugly calling you illogical. And he's not smugly pretending to be more open minded than you, is he?
sue hanes said...
JC - Tell me.
Have you ever read and commented on a certain Conservative blog
whose administrator's name begins with Z?
Have you ever read the insults directed against the President of the United States and Liberals - day after day after day.
Have you ever read the disgusting comments on these Conservative blogs.
Really JC.
what's the difference?
tell me that
Thersites said...
lol!
Have YOU ever been to the Drudge Retort? Have you been banned for publishing scientific facts not supportive of a homosexual lifestyle?
Right-wing blogs don't pretend to "objectivity". They don't "pretend" to have rules that apply "universally" to everyone which they then violate from moment to moment.
Thersites said...
...and therein lies ALL the difference.
sue hanes said...
Thersitey - Herein lies the difference:
You are a Conservative.
I am a Liberal.
You think the way you think.
I think the way I think.
Now there can be a meeting of the minds - but it can't happen if we don't want it to.
I want it to.
You don't want it to - am I right?
I want very much to have a meeting of the minds.
Is there a chance that you are at all interested in that?
Or do you just want to keep talking about it.
-FJ the Dangerous and Extreme MAGA Jew said...
lol!
The Western Canon was excised from the university curriculum in the United States of America because the Left was interested in achieving a "meeting of the minds"? Who knew that the only thing standing between me and an "open mind" was the Left's ability to deprive it of an actual liberal arts education.
*shakes head*
Thersites said...
When it comes to knowing what is best for me, always keep the following in mind... you're no radar detector!
sue hanes said...
-FJ - As is true of the majority of your comments the 'Western Canon'
one is way over my tired head.
But please never stop commenting here FJ - you see it makes my blog look more intelligent and makes the counter go up one.
:-)
sue hanes said...
Ther - I watched your really cool video and take note of this:
the girl brushing her teeth needs to be told that the bristles of her toothbrush should go up and down and not across her teeth back and forth.
The Absolute Marxist said...
Good point... But one not requiring legislative force, agreed? No graphic warning labels showing the evils of wrongful tooth brushing?
sue hanes said...
abso - What I'm seeing here is your concern about government control.
I understand that.
But first we have to peacefully take back our government from the sons of bitches in Congress and the Lobbyists.
We do that be uniting - and agreeing to work together.
It will take time.
But it will work.
~~~

And yes no more graphic warnings about brushing teeth sideways instead of up and down. I always go up and down. :)

-FJ the Dangerous and Extreme MAGA Jew said...

If only it were that simple... but I, for one, refuse to risk trading the devil that I know, for a devil that I don't. ALL the Left promises is perpetual revolution. I don't desire perpetual revolution. I prefer to enjoy the brief periods of peace in between revolutions.

sue hanes said...

Well, -FJ.

You just go ahead and enjoy the peace in between revolutions.

And I'll just go ahead and waste my f*ing life - as I always have.

Not looking for anything better - just biding my time - surrounded by Conservative d*psh*ts who are content to waste my life.

But hey - I don't mind. Cause I've got my Faith - ha ha.

At least the person that I really care about will be happy in Hawaii on New Year's Eve.

I've never had to be happy - as long as other people are happy.

That's the f*ing bottom line.

sue hanes said...

Abso - Because I am magnanimous at heart - to offset my offer in choosing Bill Maher and totally rejecting your offer of Randall Terry :( :

I give you Rational Nation USA.

Check him out by clicking on his name on my post: Hero.

Seemingly a decent, intelligent guy.

And maybe to your liking.

Let me know what you think.

Speedy G said...

I'll accept your offer and nominate Mr. Ducky. He's an honest dyed in the wool Marxist, not as filled with the soft-bigotry as a Bill Maher.

sue hanes said...

Speedy - Ducky will do just fine.

I've seen how he stands on the front line on Conservative Blogs - and only hesitates to reload.

sue hanes said...

Only thing is - Ducky has to come out in front so we can really see him - and not that b*llsh*t picture on his profile.

You see - we know what Bill Maher's got, don't we.

Well - almost everything.

It's just that he talks about his 'secret weapon'....

Thersites said...

Please. I could never picture Mr. Ducky as anyone other than Jean-Luc_Godard. Let the man have his hero.

Thersites said...

...and his mystery. ;)

sue hanes said...

Ther - Oh my gosh. I see what you mean.

I googled JLG and under images for him the third picture to the right - that is totally Ducky.

As for his mystery I'm tired too
tired to figure that out tonight.

p.s - Jean-luc's mystery or ducky's?

Thersites said...

ducky... of course. He's a brilliant film and art fanatic, just don't let him know that I said so. ;)

sue hanes said...

Theresites - 'just don't let him know that I said so'

Actually Ther - Ducky and I don't
communicate on any level.

I read his comments on Z's and
Joe Politico's blog.

:-)

sue hanes said...

But if what you say is true that
he is in fact a brilliant art and film fanatic then he's ok in my
book.

You see I'm an art and film fanatic too.
