christmas in germany

One year back in 1968  or so - I and my family spent Thanksgiving in
Garmisch Partenkirchen.  Nestled in the mountains -and especially around
that time of year with snow and all - this place is to die for.

There was an excellent Thanksgiving meal - but that is not what I remember
most.

With the two small daughters in tow - the husband and I proceeded to take an
after dinner stroll on the slushy muddy snowcoverd sidewalks.  The first VW
bug -and at that time in Germany they were Legion - that sped by I found
myself covered from head to toe in said slush.

But that's not what this post is all about.

It is about me being a deeply Creative Person and holding in my memory
one of the most beautiful and spectacular sights I have ever seen.

It was just dusk when we started out and I can recall that the surrounding
mountains looked like black and white pencil drawings.

And let me tell you folks - well it just doesn't get much better than that.

something so good - so Real - and so memorable - that if I never see anything
else in the way of scenery - I will have scene enough.
