I guess we can all hit people on your "no hit list" so long as we quote other people when we do it...
John Wayne once said, "Liberal weenies like Bill Maher need to stfu!"
-FJ - I am not a weenie
and nobody tells me to
shut the f*uck up
on my own blog...
except the duke
:}
-fj - didja see him in The High and the Mighty?
I love that movie - everything about it and everyone one in it
they just don't make people who can't act like that anymore -
well maybe ben affleck
I guess I don't see the Duke as a "great actor". I see him as a great "acting type". Kinda like Clint Eastwood. If I'm making a spagetti western, I have of a short list of good and bad "types" to use in my movie.
Today, movies are all about "casting types". It has little to do with "acting". The "studio system" for developing "acting" talent, is dead.
In other words, a great actor can play any role, even an opposite sex role, and remain "believable".
I "believe" Julie Andrews as "Victor Victoria". I don't believe John Travolta in "Hairspray".
Because it doesn't matter what movie he's in, John Travolta is always "Vinnie Barbarino".
I'd sent MY message to Bill Maher but you would only delete it for the language that I'd use. So just use your imagination.
Darth - Try me.
I won't ever delete bad language.
anyone reading my blog does so at their own risk...and furthermore
every bad word I ever heard I heard from listening to Bill Maher.
and one more thing - Darth Vadar -I mean bacon - I'm happy to have you comment on my blog - and I hope you will do so often.
Listen speedy - I never saw victor/victoria - but maybe I should.
And I happen to think John
Travolta is a great actor.
Ever see that dancing movie he was in - talk about hot :)
Speedy -
'it has little to do with acting'
and a lot to do with the casting couch dontcha think?
Speedy - I never saw Hairspray.
It just didn't appeal to me.
Speedy - Ever see Michael ?
~when John Travolta himself brought the little dog back to life?
~the pie/dancing scene
~the blowout ending when he and the old woman danced - then disappered -
it doesn't get much better than that, Speedy.
I just googled it and a woman directed that great movie - Speedy - a WOMAN
nora ephron
Hey, if you can "sleep" your way into the role, you obviously didn't need an "actor" for the part.
-FJ -
Here's why I mentioned the casting couch:
I think it is common knowledge that in the old days when the Big Important Directors were in charge of Hollywood there was a lot of casting couch stuff going on - see so they let pretty girls get a start through s*x.
Alhtough I have no firsthand knowledge of things like that I would guess that today directors are more creative than that and actually seek out real actors to act in their movies - you know to deliver the message.
That's not to say that s*x doesn't have a dominant role today - it certainly is a dominant factor anywhere.
I just think - and again what do I know - that directors are a little smarter than they used to be.
...then why are there so many "bad" movies?
...that don't deliberately start out on the Studio 'B List?

You seem to get the strangest group of people commenting here Sue.
There must be something about you that shines.
EzE - 'strangest group of people'
strange is in the eye of the beholder
I want anyone to feel welcome here if they are sincere about how they feel about things - know what I mean?
and I am going to take the 'shine' thing as the highest form of a compliment
thanks EzE
I like your really cool profile picture.
The the 'shine' thing was the highest form of a compliment.
As for the "strangest group of people"
comment, I meant people of all political persuasions seem to gather here.
EzE - Thank you - I needed that.
And for people of all poltical persuasions to gather here - nothing would make me happier.
that is the core of my very existence - unity
Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
The ceremony of innocence is drowned.
The best lack all conviction, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity

By God, The people that you respect and admire, are by and large the same people that turn my stomach
and make me feel like I want to puke.
Look Pissed off Irishman -
If you want to puke you've come to the right blog.
But let me tell you something about puking -
You make me want to puke.
Take Bill Maher for instance -
he makes a lot of people want to puke.
But I've been scrutiizing Bill for almost four years now. Not just listening to him for a few minutes the going and puking.
I forced mhyself to listen to all the nasty words he says and all the outrageous stuff and you know what -
I just know that Bill Maher is a good, decent person with a big heart
How do I know that?
Because without even having met him I believe in him.
Because I gave him every chance and he never let me down.
And if I never meet him I will still love him and I know that he will never let me downl
And if he is in love with Jasmine or Elizabeth Haseelback : )
well that's none of my businees.
and as far as the other people that I respect and admire and would love to meet but they make you want to puke - well that's your problem.
But thanks for commenting and please come again.
I wish I could know you in person because I know I would like you - ir maybe you would make me want to puke.
:}
You said, "How do I know that?
Because without even having met him I believe in him.
Because I gave him every chance and he never let me down."
But he let down the whole freaken country!
So Screw Bill Maher and whatever animal he rode in on.
'But he let down the whole freakin'
country. Screw Bill Maher and the animal he rode in on.'
PatriotUSA - Please do not just say this and then not come back.
I consider myself a spokesman for Bill Maher and I haven't even met him.
Bill Maher is a very important
person in our country right now.
He is a genius on three levels:
~comedy
~religion
and what we are concerned with on my blog right now -
~politics
Now - Patriot - if you are just wanting to vent about Bill and are not interested in hearing what I have to say about him - then you may not even come back to read my comment.
But I understand Bill Maher much better than you can know - and I am willing to take the time to help you understand him.
If you are not interested - then probably there is no use in continuing this discussion.
It is up to you - Patriot.
the ball is in your court
Patriot - I would first like to ask you this: How did Bill let down the whole freakin' country?
What did he owe you anyway?
