Long.
Very good.
For me the defining scene is when Benjamin Button is at a hotel - and Brad
Pitt - somehow the special effects make this possible - actually looks smaller
than life.
Directed by David Fincher.
~~~
I feel the need to say something about the only other two David Fincher movies
that I have seen - and liked.
Alien 3 - I liked this movie. I used to own it but gave it away because it is - well -
there are some movies that are - like P.J O'Rourke once said about Books - you
should have books around you when you read in bed that are intelligent in case
you die before you wake - and that is how I feel about some movies. Occasionally
I go through my movies and say - do I want these movies to define me if I should
suddenly kick off - one exception is Sweeny Todd.
Zodiac - Now let me say this about Zodiac. I've watched it several times and then got
rid of it - but I ALWAYS skipped over the killer scenes - and there is something else
in it that I wish I had never seen. But this is a great movie folks otherwise. And
I may never watch it again but I'm glad I saw it.
Not only was the direction great under David Fincher but special mention goes from
me to:
Jake Gyllenhaal - as Robert Graysmith
Mark Ruffalo - as Inspector David Toschi
Anthony Edwards - as Inspector William Armstrong
and especially & always
Robert Downey Jr. - as Paul Avery he really nailed it
and of course the rest of the great cast
