getting down to the basics - of football

I googled Football and the Main Things about it:

Football is made of Three Main Things -

1.  Offense

2.  Defense

3.  Special Teams

Right off I realized that what I like most about Football are the Special Teams:

~Punter - I like these People because you are focusing on just One Person
and all the attention is on him - and it certainly can make the difference
between Winning and Losing

~Field Goal Kicker

~Place Holder - Sure this Person just holds the ball but he has to be Sharp and
do it just right so that the Kicker can come through for the Team

~Long Snapper - google says that this is a Special Skill for Punts and Field Goal Attempts

Other Positions in Football :

Offensive Positions

Center
Guard - right and left
Tackle - also right and left
Tight end - serves as both a receiver and blocker
Wide Receiver
Running Backs
Quarterback

Defensive Positions

Defensive Line
Nose Guard - the defensive tackle who lines up opposite the offensive center
Defense Tackles
Defensive Ends
Linebackers - linebackers line up behind the defensive linemen and in front of the defensive
backfield.  The linedbackers are a team's second line of defense
Cornerbacks - defensive players who generally line up on the outside of the formation
and are usually assigned to cover a wide receiver
Safety - helps the quarterback in pass coverage

I found that About Football Glossary (About.com) was very concise and easy to understand when
googling Football Terms.

The Quarterbacks for this year's Super Bowl are:

The New York Giants:  Eli Manning

The New England Patriots:  Tom Brady
