my miniature presidents

Back in 1968 or around there my mother started a collection of
miniature Presidents.  Every time she would go to the grocery
store (see my post on that) she would be given one of them and
a few years back she gave them to me.

Now the series only went up to LBJ - and today I counted 34 of
them.  Grover Cleveland counts as two  - so I should have all of
them

with the exception of Thomas Jefferson.

I am sincerely sorry that I did this - but I vaguely remember throwing
him in the trash - you know because of the all men are created equal thing.

These miniature Presidents are all standing on individual tiny platforms - each just short of
three inches high.  Of course they are not anatomically correct - since Madison
was very short and Lincoln tall.

But let me tell you folks - this is good stuff.

They are impeccably dressed in Period Clothes.  The Founding Fathers really
stand out.  All of them have the right amount of appropriate facial hair - with
hand gestures arms in certain postitons.  FDR is wearing a Winston Chruchill
cloak, and Franklin Pierce even has an orange vest on.  Calvin
Coolidge is holding a white straw hat with a thin black band around it.

I have them all lined up on the top of the lower window in my Study - and
today I decided that I'm gonna write about them - maybe one a day.  So I
indiscriminately picked one up and that particular President happens to be
LBJ.

Later I will do just that.

The short essays will be based on my triva-like knowledge of the Presidents -
and I will call these posts...

Presidents for Dummies.
