Beethoven's Sonata Opus 101

I said I wouldn't write anything this weekend on my Classical Piano
Seminar Blog.

I never said I wouldn't write something about piano on my stidh blog.

~~~
It's a German Sonta.  I know some German so that helps - but there's a
few words I'm going to have to google.
Three movements:
1.   Allegretto, ma non troppo (just not too fast)
2.   Vivace alla Marcia (vivace for a second movement?)
3.    Adagio, ma non troppo, con affetto (slow - but not too much -and with feeling)
       then back to similar to the beginning
The Sonata begins and ends in AM - a good thing
The second movement begins in FM - goes in Bflat M - and ends in FM
I'm not at the piano but the last movement has about 5 lines of wild stuff -
looks like Am - then 3 pages of AM again - and at this point he loses it until
measure 232 until at the end it goes back to AM
I read just through the last movement last night and really didn't connect
with it but I just knew - though - that I was on to something.  I put a star
by measures 91 and 280 so I could remember that these  parts
really spoke to me.
In measure 123 Beethoven - without warning - laspes into some sort of
'Bach thing' and thankfully comes to his senses for the rest of the movement.
Here's the bottom line - and for me the problem.
In the past I have always fooled around with Beethoven and his Sonatas.
And you can do that.
But the Sonata in AM Opus 101 is where you have to get serious.
This Sonata is too difficult to just fool around with.
It is more than just notes.
It requires serious study.
it's good stuff
