Happy New Year!!!

Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,The flying cloud, the frosty light:The year is dying in the night;Ring out wild bells, and let him die.~~~~~~~~~~Ring out the old, ring in the new, Ring, happy bells, across the snow: The year is going, let him go;Ring out the false, ring in the true.

Happy New Year to you and yours. I'm so glad 2013 is on the way out. I can only hope 2014 will be a better year.

Cube - I'm also hoping that 2014 will be a better year but I have my doubts about that. There are many problems that need to be solved and I'm not sure they will be.

Personally - I hope your year is better. And mine too.

2013 was the worst year of my life. I can only hope 2014 will be better.

Cube - Was it the worst year of your life because of your health?

Yes, with the exception of a tonsillectomy when I was 5, and the births of my daughters, I had never been in a hospital, much less sick.

Ring out the old, ring in the new.

I'll drink to that.

Cube - Yes - it is the same with me. I have been pretty healthy throughout my life.

I hope this year brings good health to you and happiness.

Let's drink to that.

Cheers!

Cube - I hope you are enjoying nice Florida weather. It is going to be sub-zero in the next couple of days. Brrr!

It's a little chilly this morning for us (46 degrees), so I'm not in my usual shorts, but I'm wearing sweat pants and a light jacket.

The reports I'm hearing about the eastern and midwestern parts of the country are horrible. I can't believe the blizzard conditions and how cold it's going to get.

Please stay warm.

Cube - Today is not the worst - we are going to a basketball game this afternoon. But tomorrow it is going to be lows of -15. We'll have to crank up the fireplace.
And stay inside. And we are expecting more snow.

Sorry you are having chilly weather there in Florida.

I'm glad you're doing all you can do to stay warm.

We're not going to have very cold temps until Tuesday when the high is going to be 47 degrees and the nightime temps are going to be in the thirties.

I know you northerners and midwesterners know how how to deal with extreme temps, but we Floridians are helpless.

If I never blog again, you'll know I became a cube-shaped popsicle.

;-)

Cube - I guess your cold spell in Florida has something to do with the horrible cold temps we are experiencing here in the Midwest.
The best way to handle it is to stay inside. Turn on the fireplace and dress in layers to keep warm.

I'm the one who should be the popsicle. But when you are not used to it I guess it is hard to deal with.

It was almost balmy when I went outside at 10:30 am, by the time I went outside again at 11:30 am, I could feel a definite change. The temps have been dropping ever since. I just went outside and it's 51 degrees. It's going to drop to 33 degrees tonight. We Floridians aren't used to that.

Cube - I'm not surprised that you are having cooler weather. My daughter that lives in Huntsville, Alabama says they are experiencing much colder weather than they are used to.

The campus is closed for the second day in a row due to the cold weather.

It goes right through you if you are out in it for very long.

I'm not surprised. It was colder in Atlanta yesterday than it was in Ankorage, Alaska. Huntsville isn't too far from Atlanta.

It's caused by a mass of arctic air that blew closer to the south than it has in years. It has happened before and it will happen again.

Cube - Things are starting to warm up here. Not really warm but not as bone-chilling as it was.

It's hard to believe that the temps are so low in the South.

It feels good to have it not so cold now.

It's still cold here, but it's definitely warmer than yesterday.

Amazing how temps in the double digits feel better than the sub-zero ones. It makes a difference.

sue hanes said...

Cube - It is warming up here. After the temps were in the minuses the 30's seem warm.

Funny - isn't it.

It's a balmy 70 degrees here right now. It feels good to take off some of these clothes.

It's all relative. After being subjected to sub-zero temps, 30's feel like a weekend in Miami ;-)

Cube - I know what you mean. I'm glad you are back up in the 70's again. The streets are clear now and that is important to me. We had a light snow last night but it didn't last long. Ah - spring is still far away.

It feels good to be back in shorts. I'm glad you guys are in a good part, too.

I know spring is next, but I'm looking forward to summer.

sue hanes said...

Cube - Spring may be next - but it is snowing right now so it's hard to imagine spring or summer.
The snow is pretty - though.

I'm glad you are able to be in shorts. I'm cozy in my fleece jacktet. : ]
