Cube - You should have those quiet days at home once in a while. Now that Mr.Sue is retired we have a lot of those. I remember - however - what it felt like to have the girls around and the quiet days were few and far between.

Glad you are not mad. I must have a guilty conscience.

Having trouble with repeats.

We're not retired yet, but I love those quiet days. After our zoo life, it's nice to have some down time.

Don't worry about your conscience.. you're OK.

Cube - Do you still have one of your girls at home or are they both at college. If so - I can see why you have some down time.

I tend to worry about what I say but I think it is good to speak my mind. It's healthier that way.

My youngest spent her freshman year at the University of Alabama last year, but she decided to transfer to Univ. of South Florida for the rest of her studies. So they're both living at home now, but with school, work and play, they're gone a lot of the time.

It's crazy around here when they're all home, but it's nice to have everyone home for dinner... like the old days.

When hubby plays golf and the girls are busy with whatever, that's my down time.

Cube - I'm sure you enjoy having them both at home. They must be busy with their activities so you have time to yourself.

Do you play golf? I have never been interested in it although I do enjoy watching the tournaments on tv. I have learned to like it.

I love having my chicks in the nest. My little one flew up to Tuscaloosa last weekend to watch the Bama vs. LSU game. I watched from home and hoped that they'd win for her sake. I was glad when she got home with a big Bama win.

Roll tide.

I've learned to appreciated how complex golf really is and I do enjoy watching the Majors on TV.

I'm looking forward to taking classes from my husband's golf pro.

Cube - I'm happy for your daughter that Bama won. I know
how important college sports are
to the kids.

So you do play golf. It seems so complicated to me. It looks as if it takes a lot of skill to just even play it - let aone be very good at it. I know I couldn't
succeed at playing it.

I'm not really very athletic. I'm more the artistic type - and musical.

I was happy Bama won, too. She's gotten me into college football now and I'm hooked.

I used to make fun of golf, but over the years I've come to appreciate the game. I don't play yet, but I hope to once I take lessons.

I was quite athletic when I was young, I've always been artistic, but I've never been musical. I'm pretty much tone deaf.

Cube - I'm into college football too. I can watch games that I don't even have any loyalty to.
I don't watch pro football - except for the Super Bowl.

Do you paint?

cube said...

I only follow Alabama games, but I do watch the NFL Bucs every week.

Do I paint? Now that's a non sequitor. Yes, I used to paint and I used to draw. In fact my Humanities professor tried to steer away from science, but I wouldn't do it.

Why do you ask?

sue hanes said...

Cube - You said that you aren't musical - but that you are artistic. That made me wonder if you paint. I painted for a while but now I'm off of it.

We had tornado warnings here yesterday but didn't get hit. The town that we moved from did get a couple of tornadoes - and a town near there - Washington - got hit bad.

In our old house the flag pole that we had there got snapped in half. Tornadoes are so strange - and deadly.

cube said...

I used to paint and draw, but I haven't done so in years. I guess life got in the way...

I'm glad you and yours were safe from those horrible tornadoes. At least, here in Florida, we have a little to get out of the way of oncoming hurricanes.

We have an illuminated flag outside our home, and if anything happened to it, my husband would break a leg to go out and get it fixed as soon as possible.

sue hanes said...

Cube - Tornadoes may be quick to destroy but I have heard that hurricans are so destructive and scary.

I don't know what the woman will do about the flagpole that was broken in half at our old place.
My guess is that she will have the bottom half taken out and let it go at that.

I could paint - but I cannot draw.
If I try to draw it turns out to be stick figures.

We have tornadoes here in Florida but they're very rare. I remember once when my daughters were little we got a tornado warning and we huddled together listening for the train sound. We don't have basements here so there's no where to retreat. Thankfully it hit north of us.

Painting was something I dabbled in, but drawing was always primary. I told my Humanities professor that I could draw whatever I saw and didn't make me an artist. He said that's how artists start... first you draw what you see, then you draw what you see in your head and that's what art is. I never got that far.

sue hanes said...

Cube - I don't know why I can't draw. When I paint - I would usually look at something to copy and then it would take off and become my own image. Sometimes my paintings would turn into something completely different from what I started with. I never had any painting lessons. One day I just started painting and it took off from there.

Did you see on the news how George W. Bush can paint? He's pretty good. I never would have thought of him as an artist.

cube said...

Yes, I knew he painted. Too bad he got such unfavorable press or people might have appreciated him more.

sue hanes said...

Cube - Well - Pres. Obama is getting unfavorable press now - don't you think?

cube said...

It's about time. BTW I was giving him 'unfavorable press' since before he got elected. Still, I feel that BO gets a hall pass for things President Bush would've gotten scalded for by the media.

sue hanes said...

Cube - You are probably right since the press is mainly liberal and Pre. Obama is liberal. It doesn't seem fair but that is the way it is.

cube said...

I know. Sometimes it sucks to be a conservative ;-)

sue hanes said...

Cube - But you are what you are.
Sometimes I feel like I am partly conservative - but only partly.

cube said...

I'm basically a fiscal conservative, but I have shades of liberal feelings when it comes to some social issues.

cube said...

I am a fiscal conservative, and a social conservative in some issues. I don't think abortions should be easy, but I don't think they be illegal either.

sue hanes said...

Cube - I have mixed feelings about abortion also. I am against abortion, but I don't think there should be a law against it. Except for the later months. I am for the father being held responsible for the baby too.

cube said...

Mixed feelings here too. It takes two to tango and it should take two to pay for a baby; not just the government.

Cube - Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family.

cube said...

Thank you. Wishing you and yours a great Thanksgiving.

Cube - We had a great Thanksgiving dinner. Now we have to find things to do for the rest of the time.

That's not hard to do here in the college town. The husband is taking one of the boys to a football game.

My girls are out shopping and some of them are watching tv.
